West Bengal has recorded a slight increase in COVID-19 cases, with four new infections reported, taking the total number of active cases in the state to 11. According to a health department official, most of these cases have been reported from Kolkata and nearby suburbs. Several patients experiencing breathing issues are currently undergoing treatment in both government and private hospitals. The official mentioned that as of Monday, May 19, there was only one active case in the state. By Saturday, May 24, the number had increased to seven, and by the evening of Sunday, May 25, four additional cases were confirmed. Among the newly infected are a 31-year-old woman and a 12-year-old child from South 24 Parganas district, both recovering at home. Others have been admitted to private hospitals in the city. While the rise in cases is being closely monitored, health officials have stated that the situation is under control and no new restrictions are currently planned. Citizens are advised to follow basic safety measures such as wearing masks and maintaining hygiene, especially if symptomatic or vulnerable.
